You have a kid who is always searching for an adventure. You never know when or where you’ll find mysterious pieces from the last thing they took apart. No matter how many kits you buy, you know you will never fit your kid into a box.

You are done with cookie cutter solutions. You want the real deal that meets your real kid right where they really are. You don’t need another script to follow. Your kid is tired of contrived cookbook activities. You want an expert who can connect with kids, answer their questions, and use words your kid can understand. Your kid wants a teacher who knows more than they do, someone who can actually walk the talk.

As a mechanical engineer and engineering educator, I say “Challenge Accepted.”

It’s time to launch some real engineering adventures.

Challenge Accepted is a customized science and engineering program designed to quench your kid’s thirst for real engineering challenges. I start with your kid’s burning questions, follow the trail of their curiosity, and guide them to a hands-on project that uses the materials you already have in the house. Your kid and I enter into a partnership with one goal: to ignite their fires that power creative problem solving skills while having fun.

In Challenge Accepted, learners (ages 5 to 18) receive:

  • Class credits to choose live small group class sessions from my expansive course catalog
  • Authentic engineering challenges after every class meeting
  • One-on-one mentoring meetings with me

Challenge Accepted gives your kid ample opportunity to choose their own adventures while I actively guide, mentor, and support their journey. The goal is to empower your kid to experience engineering design like a real engineer. We spend a calendar year creating, doing, investigating, and exploring at a pace that fits with your schedule.

How It Works

  1. You choose the package that is the right size for your family and submit your one-time payment.
  2. You complete the registration providing your student’s name and birth date.
  3. We open an email conversation about your student’s goals when learning engineering, science, and math so I can make personal recommendations.
  4. You receive your personal Class Tracking sheet to track sessions within a week of signing up for the program.
  5. You receive regular reminders about live class options. I keep your tracking sheet updated so you know how many class credits remain on your account.
  6. Your kid has an amazing year unlocking opportunities in science and engineering!

Frequently Asked Questions

What courses are available?

Classes run the gamut of science, engineering, and math. Right now, the bulk of my classes are for learners ages 7-15, and I look forward to creating new classes for adventurers who need more challenges!

Presently I list classes on Outschool, GHF Learners, and Narrative Learning where Challenge Accepted students are welcome to take any course I offer.

How can we use our class credits?

You have one year from the date of purchase use your class credits. You can space them out to meet your learner’s needs.

I track your credits using a Google Sheet that I share with your family. If your student cannot attend a particular lesson on a particular day, they will be provided with a video replay of the session.

Can I change the balance of course credits with mentoring hours?

Yes. You can convert 4 class credits into 1 mentoring hour or vice versa. These changes will be noted on your learner’s Google Sheet.

Can multiple students share a Challenge Accepted package?

Yes, you may have multiple students sharing a Voyager or Pioneer account. Class credits are tracked per learner rather than per class. Students are welcome to attend the same classes together.
